2019 indoor design trends
The turn of the year is always a special time for the interior design industry. It is when top furniture, paint and textile manufacturers set the new trends for the new season. The eyes of the designers are set on new solutions and fresh and innovative ideas which will dominate the next year’s projects. The proposed inspirations help stay in line with the current global trends, and provide interesting solutions for interior design. There are three major directions which set the trends for a good interior: colours, materials, and style.
Colours
The idea that light and white-greyish interiors are becoming a thing of the past has already set in. Colours with a capital C are making a bold entry in interior design. Designers and stylists are no longer shy of bold and fiery orange, powder rose, deep navy blue, or green. No wonder that the 2019 Pantone colour of the year is Living Coral, a tone which reminds you of warm summer days.

Other companies followed warmer colours, and their proposal for the year 2019 is a new tone which combines gold, honey and spices: Spiced Honey. You have to admit that after years dominated by whites and greys, the new colours look very smart and enticing. However, many people can be confused about what other colours and tones will match these brighter hues. Minimalism in style works well with colours this deep. If you choose one of the latest colours, let it shine in the room and become the decorative centrepiece, but don’t overdo it, which would overwhelm the indoor design. Have the colour on one or two walls; alternatively, you can change the upholstery of your old sofa to a colour of warm turmeric or curry. Single details in these colours look great on a background built with a light gres tile floor, like Opoczno Grand Wood Natural Beige or Sand.

Another noticeable trend this year is a selection of deep, saturated green and navy blue tones. Seemingly dark and overwhelming, they are loaded with great refinement, and provide a touch of everlasting beauty. While the colours are not an easy or obvious choice (all in all, many of us are sceptical about a dark interior), they can surprise you with a sense of fresh and unimposing style if countered by proper colour blocking. They harmonise perfectly with a classic wood hue, like that in the Opoczno Grand Wood Rustic collection. If you are looking for a little bit of luxury in your design, you can block the colours with tiles which imitate expensive marble stone, like Grand Stone Calacatta Marble.

Materials
The clear reference to nature is not confined to the colours proposed for this year. Look for finishing materials inspired by nature, too. Refined stone textures, precious metals, wood, textiles, and natural light: these are what makes a beautiful and trendy indoor design. When you need to decide what your bathroom or kitchen design should be, look for tiles with natural stone veining blocked by gres tiles which imitate wooden planks. This juxtaposition builds a trendy and relaxing style without high maintenance or care. The Opoczno Grand Stone Royal Black and Lake Stone collections are a great alternative for those who seek the uncommon in indoor design.

In 2019, terrazzo is making its great comeback. An extremely durable tile material, terrazzo can be polished to a high gloss; it is a popular choice for flooring, treads and window sills. While known very well to anyone born in Poland before the 1990s, terrazzo is coming back with a bang after years of stylistic exile. Why hadn’t it found a circle of devout fans before? Perhaps most people still see terrazzo as a lining good for staircases in blocks of flats or tombstones. Now, however, concepts inspired by terrazzo are becoming popular in the form of indoor accessories: furniture knobs and handles, coffee table tops, and printed backgrounds. While terrazzo seems sombre, austere and slightly depressing, it can be completely reinvented when composed with precious metals, like gold or copper. Terrazzo is an offering for those who like to think outside the box. If terrazzo is not really your thing after all, a good alternative for you is the Opoczno Grand Stone Newstone tiles; one of the unique features of the product is a distinct stone texture with small pebbles embedded in the contrasting, non-uniform structure of the material.

Style
There is a lot going on in the latest style trends. If I was to summarise the rules of modern indoor design in one sentence, it would read: no rules apply. Now, indoor design projects feature bold imports of inspiration from different styles. They combine the old with the new, the natural with the worn-in, patterns with colours, and furniture with living plants. An eclectic concoction of things from different homes dumped into a room that is too small to fit it all, one would think. The truth is that this apparent chaos is a smart and carefully fleshed-out composition. Eclectic is the thing right now, and the line between ‘style’ and ‘kitsch’ is very fine here. Navigating the finer points to a successful eclectic design requires attention and a wider perspective. One thing is certain here: designing your home to follow this trend is an ongoing process. There are many indoor designs which retain the elements of boho; note that all of them stem from spontaneous fiddling with textures, colours and materials. It is the first time that indoor design is dominated by a style with very flexible boundaries, without a definition of trendy and good, or outdated and wrong, and where a lot of space is available for experimenting with design and searching for your identity in your interiors. All of this is not unlike the Opoczno Grand Colours collection, which provides a perfect canvas for you to let your imagination run wild, and leaves you free to shape your own living spaces. The collection invites you to forget everything you know or have seen in indoor design to boost creativity and motivate you to look for your next inspiration. The essence is the pure joy of creating every square metre of your home.
