Trends
The isaloni 2019 trade fair has ended. What is new in interior design?
There is a reason why the interior design fair in Milan is held in the spring. It is the time when nature comes back to life and many people are looking for new ideas, concepts and inspirations to rearrange their interior at a world-class level. The annual iSaloni fair in Milan invokes plenty of positive emotions, both among the hundreds of thousands of exhibitors and the visitors. Italy is the meeting venue of design lovers to whom the tiniest details in the design process are important. The infinite issues of the latest trends, accessories and modern solutions were addressed at the fair over six days this April.
iSaloni is a European capital of true mastery in interior design. This is visible in the consistently supreme level and style of the colour combinations, trends, top-quality materials, unique stone compositions, and modern precious metal solutions, displayed every year. This year’s event also emphasised the importance of details to uniquely fill and bring out the beauty of the interior. The April fair in Milan is received enthusiastically year after year. It definitely inspires and initiates new designs and tremendously influences the creative thinking of all professionals from architects to interior designers.
Bold colour is crucial
What many of the presented designs had in common was the trend of 2019 – living coral. It was more than just a finishing touch for sophisticated designs; it served primarily as the base, enchanted the recipients with its intensity and immediately put them in good mood. Opoczno has created a new tile collection, Monoblock, inspired by such cheerful colours as honey-golden, peppery yellow and optimistic pink. The tiles reflect the vivid, colourful modern perception of the interior. Opoczno followed the trendiest colours and hues, textures and patterns and transferred them to tiles to reflect the essence of modern design in a tile of the most universal of shapes.
COLOURS OF THE INTERIOR
At the fair, cold greys were definitely put on the back burner, replaced by powerful shades of deep red, sunny orange, purple and subtle pink. The warm hues were complemented by caramel, shades of brown, and rust-like ginger in living room upholstery – from couches and corner sofas to chairs and armchairs. Polish designers also trusted the new trends and they abandoned the cold Scandinavian colours in favour of interiors in bold hues for a positive impact on the senses. There were also ideas for enthusiasts of classic and elegant solutions, such as the aubergine colour, perfect for exclusive spaces. What attracted special attention was the new colour in the kitchen, especially on furniture fronts. The former white, grey and brown hues were replaced by pink and powerful claret. If you also paint the walls deep green, you will completely transform your kitchen in an exciting new way. Neutral, plain warm shades serve as a perfect background for colour experiments. Such shades are available in the Grand Concept collection. With the wide range of options, the only limits are those of your own imagination.
The old in a new version
It was hard not to notice that heavy round tables became an absolute hit. A dash of crazy was visible in their richly ornamented legs, hypnotising the fair's visitors. Furniture with soft, rounded edges is clearly finding its way back into living rooms. Like the long forgotten heavy chocolatey leather sofas and rust-coloured velour-upholstered chairs on bent legs. Polish people associate this style with the distant communist era, remembered by few nowadays, though some longingly look back on the style of those days. Having resurfaced, it is bound to be revived, offering spectacular ideas for our flats and houses, giving them and old feel in a completely modern version. To highlight this iconic design, choose a floor that imitates natural wood grain to serve as a bridge between the stylish furniture and modernity. You can find such tiles in Opoczno’s Grand Wood collection, with enough colour diversity to arrange any interior you want.
Love for stone revived
Enthusiasts of stones (not only the precious ones) were definitely satisfied during the Milan fair. Coffee tables and poufs on thin wooden legs were abandoned in favour of exquisite cylindrical marble or terrazzo tables, excellent as luxurious accessories giving a company office a dignified look. Another highlight from the 1970s was the completely conscious and deliberate use of the long forgotten terrazzo. The designers proved that it was a luxurious material, especially appealing in the form of tiles. Beige terrazzo tiles stole my heart. They can be used for floors and walls in equal measure. Laid in the right places, they add unique and elegant touches even to grey and seemingly dull rooms.
iSaloni is also a place for bold solutions. They can be seen primarily in the quite risky combinations of dark wooden furniture with stone. The fair also featured wood and metal combinations and woven tapestries. The atmosphere of the interiors was heated up by luxurious details made of brass and crystal glass. Those who love green were happy with this year’s concept presented in Milan. Even though abandoned in furniture, the colour was used in the form of plants that complemented the presented designs. Large plant pots are perfect for luxurious interiors. They give a living room with wooden and stone furniture a light, harmonious and warm feel. And what can be designed in a bathroom without windows where there are no conditions for living plants to grow? You may use floral-patterned tiles, like the ones from Opoczno’s Fluorescent Flower Black collection, with an intriguing black background highlighting the brightness of the pattern.
Those who love accessories could also find exciting ideas at the fair. This year, they included gold and brass elements looking like the most expensive jewellery. The Milan fair is also a place for practical furniture and details. Mainly lamps, which are true works of art. Painted by hand, incredibly functional, they are tremendously appreciated by those who value discrete light and the atmosphere they create in the room. Besides, many of them can beautifully light up the patio; after all, spring is also a time of long, warm evenings that we like to spend outside – on balconies and in gardens. You can conjure up an urban garden even on a small patio in a block of flats. But to do this, you need a durable, lasting floor, easy to clean and resistant to the ever-changing weather. The Grand Concept and Solid 2.0 collections from Opoczno are perfect for all nature lovers who lack the budget and time required to design their own garden. The tiles can be laid without any complicated modifications, directly on the grass or gravel. User-friendly application and spectacular effects.
GARDEN AND BALCONY TILES
The Milan fair is over. All enthusiasts of new modern trends left with a huge boost of inspiration. They are pondering where the Italian interior design ideas are going to take them. Their curiosity has most certainly been satisfied, as is the case every year, and their heads are now full of countless ideas to be transferred to our Polish interiors.
