White on Black – the perfect duo
Romanticism above all
If you are longing for a more sentimental bathroom, you are sure to fall in love with the Winter Vine Floral, Magnifique Mosaic and Pret-a-Porter collections. Their floral themes and mosaics, adhering to the black-and-white aesthetic, can make your bathroom look unique. The white satin tiles from the Winter Vine Floral collection perfectly match the black tiles decorated with a delicate climbing vine structure. The glossy and dark surfaces contrast with their satin and light-coloured counterparts, just like the plain tiles do with their structured sisters. The result of this combination is a very refined composition.
Magnifique Mosaic tiles decorated with a black-and-white arabesque pattern are sure to add more expressiveness to the interior. The contrast is further strengthened by the tiles’ diverse finishes – the white ones are matte, while the black ones are glossy. Such a visually impressive mosaic can be offset by black and white tiles with a uniform finish. Interiors decorated with Magnifique Mosaic tiles are always remarkable and refined.
The Pret-a-Porter collection includes both floral designs and a mosaic. The white flower composition, itself the result of combining three types of tiles, as well as the delicately floral inserto tile, meet plain and structured tiles in this collection, which is also complemented by a subtle, black-and-white mosaic.
A modern bathroom
If you are a fan of modern design, you are certain to like the Sindi collection. What plays first fiddle here is a mosaic based on black squares, as well as an inserto tile embellished with a geometrical pattern of fine, black and grey squares which, like pixels on a screen, disperse across the white surface. White and black tiles with a delicate streak pattern, as well as completely plain, white satin tiles, form the backdrop for the decorative motifs.
As it turns out, opting for fewer colours is not only for minimalists. Black-and-white interiors can assume any number of forms, and the two colours actually offer endless possibilities. Carefully choosing your household equipment and sticking to a few simple rules can result in your own unique, harmonious, black-and-white world.
Just two dominant colours – sound boring? Nothing of the sort! Combining black and white is effective in all kinds of spaces – from ultra-modern and minimalist to industrial and classic, glamour, and even vintage. However, when designing interiors, it is important to keep in mind a few rules that govern combining the two colours.
Three’s company
Black-and-white interiors gain a lot from introducing an additional colour into the mix. It is best to limit yourself to only one complementary colour and only a few slightly more prominent elements, allowing you to avoid chaos and disorder. Similarly, all other additions and accessories should be kept to a minimum – choose higher-quality items instead.
Less is more
Choose the type and form of your additions carefully. Less is more is the rule of thumb for black-and-white interiors. Do not go overboard on the additions and pay attention to the quality of the fabrics, accessories and decorations present – they will grab everyone’s attention against the black-and-white background.
When designing a black-and-white interior, remember to maintain the right proportions between the two colours. It is definitely better for white to dominate the pairing. Even if you have a lot of space to design, an interior that is too dark can feel overbearing. The exception to this is the bathroom (especially men’s), which is a room you do not spend much time in. White-dominant rooms appear larger and make you feel good and relaxed.
For fans of the classic style
When designing a black-and-white interior, it is a good idea to start by choosing the tiles. You are sure to find a lot of interesting black-and-white combinations regardless of the styles you like.
If you value the classics above all, then a floor resembling black marble can serve as the perfect base for designing the rest of the interior, in addition to being a great choice for almost all rooms. Tiles in the Light Marquina collection mimic marble perfectly. The beautifully veined, matte stone pattern is sure to lend elegance to every room. Another interesting proposal, one that is perfect for any tasteful bathroom, is the Elegant Classic collection. It includes black, matte tiles with marble-like veins, as well as black-and-white polished tiles. The collection is complemented by decor tiles resembling a mosaic made up of shards of marble in various shades of black, white and grey.
Carrara Pulpis, on the other hand, is a collection which, in addition to noble, white marble and black marquina motifs, offers a delicate mosaic that also resembles marble.
All three collections mentioned above, combined with simple sanitary ware and stylised fittings and furniture, result in chic, classical interiors. The elegant look of marble-inspired tiles makes them perfect for interiors in different styles as well. When you choose to add modern-looking equipment to a bathroom decorated with Light Marquina, Elegant Classic or Carrara Pulpis tiles, what you get is a stylish and modern interior.
